Terms of Service

Last updated 12 September 2026

These terms explain what you can expect from ShedMap and what we ask of you in return. They apply whenever you use the ShedMap app, whether you are browsing as a guest, have an account, or list a shed. Please read them; they matter most in the sections about food, safety and payment.

Who we are and what ShedMap is

ShedMap is a directory of roadside honesty stalls across the United Kingdom: cake sheds, egg boxes, plant stalls, honey huts and the like. We list where they are, what they sell and when they are usually open, so you can find one near you.

ShedMap is an information service. We are not a marketplace and we are not a party to any sale. When you buy something from a stall, the sale is between you and the stall owner. We do not take payment for produce, hold stock, set prices or handle deliveries.

In these terms, "ShedMap", "we" and "us" mean the operator of the ShedMap app. "You" means anyone who uses the app.

Using ShedMap as a guest

You can browse the map and the directory without an account. Guest use is free and always will be.

Some features need an account: saving sheds, restock alerts and listing your own shed. You will be asked to sign in only when you try one of those.

Your account

  • Give us accurate details when you create an account and keep them up to date.
  • Keep one account per person. Do not share your sign-in details or let someone else use your account.
  • Keep your credentials safe. You are responsible for what happens on your account until you tell us it has been compromised.
  • You must be 18 or over to list a shed. Buyers under 18 may browse, but the app is not designed for children under 13.
  • If you sign in with Apple or Google, their terms also apply to that sign-in.

Shed listings and the Owner Programme

Listing a shed is free for the first 30 days. After the trial, a listing costs £20 per year, billed through Stripe. We will show you the price and the renewal date before you pay anything, and we will remind you before each renewal.

You can cancel at any time from the app. Your listing stays live until the end of the period you have paid for and is then hidden from buyers. We do not offer pro-rata refunds for unused time, except where UK consumer law gives you a right to one, for example if we fail to provide the service.

Every new listing is reviewed before it goes live. Review usually takes less than two working days. We may reject a listing that is not a genuine roadside or farm-gate stall, that lists restricted goods, that is in a location you do not control, that duplicates another listing, or that contains content that breaks these terms.

Listing content and accuracy

You are responsible for everything in your listing: the name, description, opening days and hours, payment options, address and photos. Keep it accurate, and pause or update the listing when things change.

Photos must be yours, or you must have permission to use them. Do not upload photos of other people without their consent, and do not upload photos that show children.

We may edit a listing to fix obvious errors, remove content that breaks these terms, or hide a listing while we investigate a report. Where we can, we will tell you what we changed and why.

Honesty stalls, food and your safety

We do not inspect stalls, taste the produce or check the owners. A listing on ShedMap is not a recommendation or a guarantee of anything.

If you run a stall, food hygiene, allergen labelling, weights and measures and clear pricing are your legal responsibility. Anyone selling food in the UK, including from home, may need to register with their local council. Check the rules before you sell.

  • If you have an allergy, check the label or ask the owner before you eat. If there is no allergen information, assume the food may contain any of the 14 major allergens.
  • Many stalls sit on narrow lanes and in lay-bys. Park where it is safe and legal, and mind traffic when you step out.
  • Cash left in an honesty box is at your own risk. Most owners empty their boxes regularly, but we cannot recover money that goes missing.

Reporting a problem

Every listing has a "Report" option. Use it for a stall that has closed, a wrong location, unsafe food, a misleading listing or anything that worries you. You can also email hello@shedmap.com.

We read every report. Where a report raises a safety concern, we hide the listing within one working day while we look into it. For accuracy reports, we contact the owner and give them seven days to correct the listing before we hide it. We will let you know what happened if you ask us to.

Acceptable use

  • Do not scrape, copy or bulk download listings, photos or any other data from ShedMap.
  • Do not contact, visit or message shed owners in a way that is threatening, abusive or unwanted. Owners share their details to sell produce, not to receive unsolicited approaches.
  • Do not submit false reports, fake listings or fake restock signals.
  • Do not resell, licence or share ShedMap data with third parties.
  • Do not try to break into, overload or interfere with the app or our systems.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Profile. Deletion removes your saved sheds and preferences. If you have a listing, it is taken down at the same time and any remaining paid period is forfeited.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that has not been used for three years, or where the law requires it. Where we can, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put things right.

Liability

We provide ShedMap as it is. We work hard to keep the directory accurate, but we cannot promise that any listing is up to date, that a stall will be open, or that the app will always be available.

As far as UK law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from a purchase you make at a stall, from produce sold there, or from relying on information in a listing.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under the law of England and Wales.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change matters to how you use ShedMap, we will tell you in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use ShedMap after that date means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.

Questions about these terms: hello@shedmap.com. We aim to reply within three working days.
